Profile:
Glendon Mellow was born under a cabbage leaf in the summer of 1974, covered in stork feathers and placenta. Inspired by evolution and biology to create his oil paintings, he is particularly fond of the colour Naples Yellow. After doing a few portraits, Glendon took his work online with his blog The Flying Trilobite in spring 2007, and his art has been featured on the ScienceBlogs Retrospectacle: A Neuroscientist's Blog and Page 3.14. Glendon considers himself a Bright, and seeks to increase our visual language by drawing upon the abundance of discoveries in natural history. " I think my artwork appeals to people who recognise trilobites and tardigrades and so on, and enjoy seeing them depicted as part of a strange yet traditional composition." Glendon and his wife Michelle live with their hermit crab Shiny, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
