Easter’s Bunny

Here leaps the Easter hare again,
already conceiving her second litter
while heavy with the first.

She hops with a crimson egg
in her mouth, under a spring moon.
Jumps the border of the old religion,

into the illuminated margin
of a Christian text,
pure and bright.

Here comes blood-fingered dawn again,
pregnant with possibilities
of light and dew.
